Las Vegas nests grow fast in desert heat. Early removal costs less.

The Las Vegas summer climate — routinely above 105°F from June through September — accelerates bee nest growth in ways that most homeowners do not anticipate. In a temperate climate, a new bee colony might spend weeks establishing the initial comb structure before growing to significant size. In the heat of a Mojave Desert summer, a colony that moved into a wall void in April can have 20,000 bees and 15 pounds of comb by June. The earlier a nest is identified and removed, the smaller the job and the lower the cost. A colony that has been in place for one season is a very different job than one that has been missed for two or three seasons and has filled an entire wall cavity.

The physical diversity of nesting locations in Las Vegas properties creates a wide range of removal scenarios. Ground nests in the sandy desert landscaping common in Summerlin and Henderson yards require a different approach than wall cavity nests in the dense stucco construction of mid-century homes in North Las Vegas or Paradise. Attic nests in single-story homes — where bees enter through a gap at the roofline or a loose soffit board — often remain undiscovered until the colony has been established for a full season or more, at which point extraction requires opening the ceiling or entering the attic with full protective gear. We have the equipment and experience to locate nests that are not visible from the exterior and to access them safely regardless of position or depth in the structure.

After any nest removal, sealing the entry point is essential. See our bee proofing service for comprehensive prevention. For nests inside your home's walls or attic, see our bee hive removal service for full details on structural extraction.

Bee Nest Removal FAQ

In common usage, "nest" and "hive" are often used interchangeably to mean any bee colony structure. Technically, "hive" typically refers to the full wax comb structure built by honey bee colonies, while "nest" can refer to any bee nesting site including ground burrows, tree hollows, and wall cavities. In practice, when Las Vegas homeowners report a "bee nest," it usually means they have found a colony that has taken up residence in or around their property, whether that is a hole in the ground, a wall void, an attic space, or another protected location. Our removal process is the same regardless of the terminology — we locate, access, extract, and seal.

Ground-nesting bees in Nevada are often solitary mining bees rather than honey bees. Solitary mining bees — you will see them as single bees entering and exiting small holes in sandy soil — are generally non-aggressive, do not build large colonies, and disperse on their own after a season. They cause no structural damage and pose minimal stinging risk. If you have a ground disturbance with many bees actively defending a large nest, that may indicate yellow jackets or a honey bee colony at the surface — which does require professional assessment. Call us and describe what you see before taking any action.

Honey bees need an opening of only 3/8 inch to enter a wall void. The most common entry points in Las Vegas stucco construction — weep holes, stucco cracks, gaps around electrical conduit and light fixtures, and aging caulk around windows — are often in locations homeowners do not inspect regularly. The bees enter and exit through this small opening, and the bulk of the colony is hidden inside the wall. By the time homeowners notice increased bee activity near a specific section of exterior wall, or hear a faint buzzing inside the house, the colony has often been established for weeks or months and the hive may already contain significant comb.

Ground nest removal for solitary bees or small wasp colonies can be completed in under an hour. Bee nests in accessible outdoor structures — tree hollows, utility boxes, gate posts — typically take 1–2 hours. Wall cavity nests in Las Vegas stucco homes run 2–5 hours depending on hive size and structural access. Attic nests with large established colonies can take a full day. We provide timeline estimates on the phone based on your description of the location and size of the nest. Same-day completion is the standard for most nest types across Clark County.
